Mondays Encouragement for Living

by Anthony Walker of Anthonysdesk

James asks a very pertinent question in James 4. "What causes fights and quarrels among [us]? Don't they come from [our] desires that battle in [us]? What an interesting perspective. At first, it may be hard to imagine that our external battles are caused by our internal desires and troubles. As he points out in chapter 1, our desires drags us into temptation. In Romans 7 and Galatians 5, Paul lets us know that on the inside there is a war going on between the Spirit and the Flesh. The Spirit desires spiritual things and the Flesh desires worldly things.

This inward war causes us to lash out against each other. Exactly what Satan wants. When we battle with one another , which gets nothing accomplished, we waste time. Time is a valuable commodity that we can not waste. But ultimately we lose the war because we are fighting the wrong thing.

Ephesians 6:12
12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

I pray that we fight for not letting our desires overtake us and have a peaceful week!
