Overcoming Sadness

Don't Let The Blues Overtake You
Overcoming sadness is to take action in doing exactly what you don't feel like doing. Sadness, stress, and depression would overcome and greatly overwhelm me if I focused on my issues, problems, and losses on a  regular basis. Being sad pays a major toll on mental health and sometimes physical health. The longer sadness is allowed to linger within, the more our health is affected by it. Here are some good ways to overcome sadness and fight depression.

Laugh Out Loud!
Laughter goes a long way. Have you ever tried laughing out loud to yourself while you were totally drowning in tears? If not...try it! It's Guaranteed to Work. Lol. I have a feeling that you will be shocked at the results. (Warning: You may feel like you're going crazy while attempting this . . . just wanted to throw that out there.)

Get it all out
Sometimes it's best just to get it all out and a good way to do that is to speak with God about the issues or events that you are struggling with. Speak out loud and talk to God as if His ears were right there in front of you. Tell God the entire story from beginning to end. It helps out tremendously!  (I found that by speaking out loud to God instead of a person, you are more likely to be honest about the situation and how you feel.) (This may make you feel a little crazy too . . . ) It works.

Help Out
Volunteer work always helps to lift my spirits. To help others out in a time where they need it most is very rewarding. There are many cases of people forgetting about their sadness when they help others have happiness.

Exercise
Exercising is a great way to get out and get moving. When sadness strikes, so does the want to crawl into a hole to weep and wallow. Get out and take a walk or a hike, you will feel tons better when you get back.

Find a Great Pet or a Great Kid
Great kids and pets are full of unconditional love. Words are not really needed to communicate with them. All it takes is a glimpse and a smile for a baby to become responsive with happiness. Great pets don't need much encouragement for their happiness to shine through.
